The cornea is the transparent external membrane of the eye. It is
the one to receive the first impact of light. Next to the cornea comes the
iris, a thin colored ring (what gives an eye color).the iris includes the
pupil, which controls the amount of light that enters the eye through dilation
and contraction. Behind the iris is the crystalline lens or optic disc. This is
where the light rays are finely focused to form the image on the retina,
situated in the rear of the eye. All together they form the eye ball.
Problems
In the eyes are many and various. they may be caused by infection,
trauma, irritation, or lack of a given vitamin like in the case of night
blindness, a deformation of the eyeball, a hardening of cornea, stress etc.
Main causes
Malnutrition
Infections
Allergies
High blood pressure
Diabetes
Tooth infection (because they share the same vascular and nervous
system)
Heredity problems
A trauma caused by being hit or by an object getting into the eye
Problem in ocular muscles
Another factor that produced vision problems is the unhealthy
habit of reading with poor lighting. This causes eye strain.
Wounds and blows to the eyes
If there is a wound in the cornea or the conjunctiva, these may
become infected. To prevent this immediately give the person 3 tablets daily of
bee propolis, (propoleo)and 3 of garlic capsule.
If the eyes has been hit or punched and the cornea, or conjunctiva
are filled with blood, it may be danderous and the person may lose the eye. It
is recommended to see a physician immediately. Meanwhile :
Suggested Treatment.
Put 2 drops of aloe vera extract diluted with boiled water. The
eye should be closed and covered with a patch. It must remain immobile.
Conjunctivitis: (pink eye)
One of the two eyes may be affected by the infection which is
evidenced by itching, red eyes, pus and excessive discharge mainly during the
morning.
Suggested Treatment
Clean the eyes with boiled water and a clean tissue paper
preferable, then discard it because it is very contagious. Apply two drops of
aloe vera extract in the eyes. Open the lower eyelid by pulling out on the
eyelashes and place one drop of the aloe there. Repeat this every 4 hours until
the problem disappears.
Glaucoma
This is a result of high pressure inside the eye. It normally
occurs in adults.
There are two types of glaucoma
Acute glaucoma is when there is suddenly a strong pain inside the
eye. Vision becomes cloudy and the eye turns red. The pupil of the affected one
becomes larger than the one of the good eye and the eye feels very hard to
touch. If the pain does not stop within 24 hours, seek an ophthalmologists
help.
Surgery may be required in order to drain the eye and relieve the
pressure.
Chronic glaucoma occurs slowly and its symptoms are not generally
felt.symptoms are:
Gradual loss of eye sight usually affecting the peripheral vision
first. This is a dangerous disorder which may cause blindness, immediate
medical care is recommended.
Causes
May be due to diabetes, arteriosclerosis or high blood pressure.
Treatment
The Italian doctor Michele Virno, as well as Dr Linus pauling,
winner of the nobel prize in chemistry, recommended taking high doses of
vitamin C as well as consuming large amount of ginko biloba, lemon, apples, and
oranges. Avoiding any physical exertion
is also recommended
Sites
Swelling in the shape of a pimple which forms mainly on the edges
of the eyelids. Since it is infectious it is recommended to apply lukewarm
water
Suggested treatment
Put aloe vera extract on
the eyelid every 4 hours. Periodically cleaning the eye with aloe vera extract
will help prevent these infection.
Growth
Protuberance that goes from one side of the eye to the cornea.
Causes
This is caused by the air, dust,, and sun or by the effects of
light produced by electric or arc welding.
Suggested treatment
Aloe vera extract drops and beta carotene.
A hemorrhage in the white part of the eye
This problem occurs after straining oneself by lifting something
heavy, coughing forcefully, going to the bathroom when constipated or receiving a light blow to the eye. This problem is produced when a small
vessel in the eye bursts. It generally isn’t dangerous and its effect disappears
in a few days.
Suggested Treatment
2 drops of aloe vera extract helps reduce inflammation and heal
the eye.
Cataract
This occurs when a cloud is formed on the eye lens (crystalline)
behind the pupil .(see cataracts)
Black eyes
The most effective remedy is
Treatment
To apply a bag of crushed ice on the area for 10 min every 2
hours. If the vision clouds, consult your physician.
General eye health
The best suggested treatment
To maintain healthy eyes is adequate nutrition which includes
vitamin A (beta carotene), complex, C, E and proteins. In addition to this it
is important to have good lighting when you are reading or using your eyes for
extended periods of time.
A lack of vitamin A will
cause : a tired eyes, a sensitivity to the light, a lack of moisture in the
eye, a susceptibility to infections as well as night blindness which causes an
inability to see in little light. These symptoms are painless and caused by
lack of vitamin A. this vitamin is found in dark green and yellow vegetables,
in orange vegetable like raw carrots, in dairy products, fish and spinach.
Vitamin A is responsible for the formation of the visual purple which helps in the ocular adjustment to light changes. The presence of vitamin C and E as well as vitamin B2 and Niacin (which are part of B- complex vitamins) prevent ocular and retina hemorrhages. They also strengthens the eyes against infections.

They help fight eye arteriosclerosis and together with vitamin E
prevent detachment of the retina (amotio retinae) and strengthens the ocular
muscles which produce squinting and double vision.
Dr. Harold Peppard in his book “see Better without Glasses” pub.Posada,
recommends the following steps to prevent visual problems.
Read only when correctly seated and with your head straight up.
Keep the book at a distance of about 15 inches.
Use adequate lighting- neither dim nor bright.
Read without straining eye sight and word by word.
Do not read if you are tired or sick because this strains the eye
muscles.
Blink repeated; keep the eyes moist.
A lack of proteins provoke nearsightedness, retinitis and
infections.
Vitamin without minerals will not be able to work adequately,
therefore it is recommended to take: calcium, magnesium and zinc.
Supplement
Beta carotene and vitamin E
Royal jelly
Vitamin C
Multi minerals and vitamins
Aloe vera juice.
Supplement for children
A – beta carotene, b complex, C, E
Potassium, selenium, Zinc.
