Burns are one of the most common household injuries,
especially among children.Burns are characterized by severe skin
damage that causes the affected skin cells to die.
Burns are classified in three categories:
A, first-degree: these are burns which cause no blistering.
B, second degree: burns with blisters.
Third degree: deep burns, destroying the skin and exposing the
tissues.
It is important that immediately after being burned you run cold water over the burn. This will decrease
the temperature in the area and will avoid dehydration of the tissue.
Recommended treatment.
In case of a light burn, it is important to apply cold water or
ice on the area immediately to eliminate accumulated heat.Since this burn affects the top layer of skin, the signs and
symptoms disappear once the skin cells shed. First-degree burns usually heal
within 7 to 10 days without scarring. Apply aloe vera gel.
This helps in healing.
On burns with blistering, you should be careful not to leave these
break in order to prevent the tissues from getting infected. If they have
already burst, wash the area with cold, distilled or boiled water, then apply
aloe vera. Cover the area with sterilized gauze, applying aloe vera gel. If the
wound gets infected take bee propolis and garlic as a natural antibiotic.
On deep burns and burns on a large area you should proceed as in
step b. wash the wound with distilled or boiled, cold water. Leave it in the
water for 10 minutes and then rub aloe vera gel on it.
Compared with first- and second-degree burns, third-degree burns carry the most risk for complications, such as infections, blood loss, and shock, which is often what could lead to death. At the same time, all burns carry the risk of infections because bacteria can enter broken skin.
