Memories enrich children's lives and provide them with lots to talk about, which in turn enhances their language skills.

Ways to build your child's memory bank

Establish routines.
Young children thrive on them, and they make perfect fodder for enhancing your child's memory. If your child  knows that  he snuggles with his night after his bath, he will start to get the bear himself.

Play memory game
Ask questions when you are out and about. Simple matching games are great for improving memory. There are several  memory matching games you can buy or make your own. Whatever memory games or activities you play, remember to have fun with your child.

Demonstrate how to perform tasks.
Babies model their parents actions. If you want your child to learn how to do something, show him how and give him a turn. Doing rather than simply observing, helps your baby store information more solidly. And they remember best when you repeat the action periodically.

Talk with your child about her experiences.
Focus on events that resonated strongly with her, such as  trip to the zoo etc.

Using familiar books
Reading familiar books can serve as a memory tool for your child. Reading aloud to your child exposes them to language skills. When your child asks you to read a book again and again, they are using repetition to learn the story by memory. As you read point out the words as you read to your child.

Using memory rhymes
Rhyming is an important language skill. Games using rhymes encourage memory growth and teach letter sounds.

Talking about the days event.
Ask your child about the events in school or about a trip. Be specific with your question.
